Policies and Restrictions

1. Do you have a Code of Conduct policy?

Yes, you can read our Code of Conduct here. While on property, guests will find it posted outside the security entrances to CityWalk or may obtain a copy at Security or Guest Relations.

2. Are there items I can’t bring into CityWalk or the Park?

Please review our Code of Conduct for a complete list of prohibited items. We note some important restrictions here:

  • All persons, bags, backpacks and purses will be x-rayed and/or inspected prior to entering CityWalk or the Park.
  • We recommend you leave unnecessary articles in your car and secure valuables in your trunk.
  • Examples of prohibited items are:
    • Items that could be used as or that resemble a weapon (including chemical dispensing devices such as pepper spray or mace)
    • Alcohol, marijuana, illegal substances and paraphernalia
    • Apparel or body art likely to create a danger or disturbance
    • Clothing or accessories that may create a false impression of employment by Universal or as emergency personnel
    • Banners and unauthorized signs, posters, placards display or written materials
    • Sound amplification devices
    • Coolers, suitcases, bags, carts, platforms or devices with wheels
    • Drones
    • Any large or other item that may pose a threat or safety concern to other persons. 
  • Selfie sticks are permitted at Universal’s discretion but must be stowed on rides and attractions and the Studio Tour.
  • Animals are not permitted on Universal property with the exception of service animals trained or in training to perform tasks for visitors with disabilities. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, and companion animals are prohibited.

3. Can I bring food and drinks into the Park?

We offer a variety of food options at restaurants and concession stands throughout our property. However, we understand that guests may wish to bring outside food and drinks. Please note the following guidelines for bringing outside food and non-alcoholic drinks:

Acceptable items

  • Empty refillable water bottles
  • Bottled water (maximum 2 liters) (prohibited during separately ticketed events)
  • Small snacks (prohibited during separately ticketed events)
  • Any food required for medical purposes and medically-indicated nutritional supplements 
  • Any food required for special dietary needs 
  • Baby food/baby formula 
  • Soft-sided coolers no larger than 8.5” wide x 6” high x 6” deep

Prohibited items

  • Glass containers
  • Open containers
  • Large coolers of food
  • Hard-sided coolers
  • Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5” wide x 6” high x 6” deep
Please be advised that all bags and personal items are subject to x-ray and additional inspection.

4. Do you have a smoking policy?

At this time, the Park’s designated smoking area is closed and tobacco smoking is not permitted in the Park. Please note that e-cigarettes and vaporizers are treated the same as tobacco. Additionally, marijuana is prohibited. 

5. Is there security or police on property?

For the safety and convenience of our guests, Universal Studios Hollywood has a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sub-Station on premise at Universal CityWalk, as well as Universal Security. 

6. Does Universal Studios Hollywood offer a complimentary return ticket on days when it rains?

No, tickets are valid rain or shine. On days when it rains, we do not offer any complimentary admission for guests to return another day.
