Entrance Finger Scans

How does finger scan identification work at Universal Studios Hollywood?
We scan your finger at our entrance turnstiles the first time you use your annual passes or multi-day tickets. On subsequent visits we will rescan your finger to verify that you are using the same ticket. This information helps facilitate re-entry and prevent fraud.

What information is collected as part of the finger scan?
Using a scanner, the software scans swirls and arcs of the finger to create a grid of intersecting points. These points are then stored as a series of coordinating numbers only. When the finger is scanned again, the number series will repeat and match itself to the stored original. As this information is stored as a number only, a fingerprint image cannot be recreated from the stored information.

Are all guests required to submit to a finger scan?
If you don’t want to submit to a finger scan, please notify the attendant at the entrance. You will be required to carry and show a photo ID.

Attraction Locker Finger Scans

Attraction lockers are available to store loose articles at select attractions throughout the park. These attraction lockers may require a finger scan to register you and permit access to your locker. The information from this finger scan is solely used to verify your identity and to prevent unauthorized access to your locker. Additional lockers which do not require a finger scan are available for an additional rental fee inside the main entrance to the park.

Secret Life Of Pets: Off the Leash -- Pet Avatar

How is my Pet avatar created?
The technology captures facial data, but does not take measurements that would uniquely identify you.

How is my data stored?
We do not retain or store such facial data after the ride ends.

Access and Tracking Technologies

Do you use RFID technology in your park?
Yes, we offer rechargeable drink cups containing an RFID antenna that interacts with RFID scanners at each Coca Cola soda dispenser. We use this information to track and identify the information (i.e. cup size, date purchased, number of times used, number of refills remaining, etc.) stored on the rechargeable drink cups.

What are Bluetooth beacons and how are they used in the park and on Universal CityWalk Hollywood?

At Universal Studios Hollywood we constantly work on providing new, and exciting, technological experiences and encounters for our guests. Throughout the park and Universal CityWalk Hollywood, there are certain locations where we may install Bluetooth beacons. Bluetooth beacons use a low-power Bluetooth signal to one-way communicate data via our Universal Studios Hollywood Mobile Application. Bluetooth beacons “check in” your device when within proximity.  If your mobile device is enabled to receive Bluetooth Low Energy signals, it can communicate with the Bluetooth beacon when installed by receiving a code which will unlock location-specific content and experiences in our Universal Studios Hollywood mobile app to enhance the guest entertainment experience while in our park or on Universal CityWalk Hollywood. You may elect to enable or disable Bluetooth Low Energy signals at any time by changing the Bluetooth Low Energy settings on your mobile device. You may also elect to enable or disable notifications at any time by changing the Notification settings for the Universal Studios Hollywood mobile app on your mobile device.
